The FUEL Method

Victorem's system for fueling endurance athletes, authored by Jena Brown, RD, CSSD.

The FUEL Method is the system behind every plan Victorem builds: Foundational Health, Utilization, Endurance, and Longevity. It is not a personality or a guess. It is a sequence Jena built from years of coaching endurance athletes, and it is what any dietitian trained under Victorem's standard delivers.

Foundational Health

Before fueling gets fine-tuned, Victorem looks for what is working against you underneath it: gut health, hormone balance, sleep, stress load, and any labs and data that explain symptoms your training effort does not. This stage looks for root causes, not more rules. What changes for the athlete: you stop guessing at supplements and start working from an actual picture of your own body.

Utilization

Once the foundation is accounted for, the method turns to how efficiently your body uses fuel before, during, and after training. This stage looks at timing, composition, and hydration matched to your actual training sessions, not your training partners. What changes for the athlete: fueling stops causing GI distress or crashes and starts working the way it is supposed to under load.

Endurance

Fueling is not static. This stage periodizes your nutrition alongside the training cycle: base building, peak weeks, taper, and race day, so the plan moves with your season instead of staying fixed all year. What changes for the athlete: race day stops being the day the plan falls apart.

Longevity

The last stage looks past the next race to the years of training still ahead: sustainable health habits and injury prevention, and a fueling strategy that holds up as your body and your training change with age. What changes for the athlete: the plan is built to last past a single season, not just get you to one finish line.

What you have at the end that you didn't have at the start

An athlete who has been through the FUEL Method has a fueling strategy built on their own data instead of a generic template, an explanation for symptoms their training effort could not account for, and a race-day plan that has actually been tested against their training, not assembled the week before. They also have a clinician who has reviewed the whole picture personally, not just the parts that fit inside a meal plan.
